From the article: Newborn Clothes: A Checklist of Newborn Clothes for the First 8 Weeks
Newborn baby clothes are an essential part of bringing your baby home from the hospital. While there are certain baby clothes that you should have stocked and ready in your baby's closet, I'd like to know what newborn baby clothes you found the most helpful in your first 8 weeks at home. Little Hand Covers
- When I had both of my girls, those little mittens to cover their hands were essential! It kept them from scratching themselves and also worked to keep their little fingers warm!

soft, soft, soft... & shirts with snaps
- One thing I didn't think about when I was buying clothes before my baby was born, was comfort. Her going home outfit was a scratchy, ruffly dress with confining elastic. One look at my baby's tender skin and there was no way I was going to put that on her. I was glad that I'd had a bunch of little short- and long-sleeved cotton shirts with snap fronts; they were soft as can be, easy to put on, and didn't bother her umbilical cord stump.

the glamour bodysuit
- My DD was born in August -- way too hot for much of anything even on a newborn. I found bodysuits that had a little skirt flap on the front. Adorable! and so easy but still nice enough to go to grandmas. I bought about 10 of them for $3 each at my local discount store. She lived in them -- and a pretty little white bonnet.

Newborn essential clothes
- Onesies. Perfect in summer, prefect under everything else for extra warmth. Must...have...onesies. And KaBoogie shoes LOL.

Onesies!
- I loved onesies, especially plush terry cloth styles (so soft!)

Onesies!
- This might go without saying, but the onesie was my best friend for a few years. In the summer they were an outfit on their own with a cute pair of baby shoes, and in the winter they were an essential basic layer.

The only outfit you need
- When I had my boys, they lived in those cute little onsies that have no snaps. The ones that just are like a long skirt with elastic on the end. It was so easy to change diapers and their little legs could still curl up without being constricted. Also, a good blanket for swaddling was a lifesaver.
