Readers Respond: Easiest Ways to Dress a Baby Who's Walking

From , former About.com Guide

I used to think the most difficult age in which to dress the baby was the very beginning stages when she would squirm around. Now that she's walking, I find it equally difficult to dress the baby, but for different reasons. Share your tips and tricks for dressing a walking baby. Do you offer an incentive? Buckle them onto their changing table? Play a game? Share what's working for you!

Let Baby Choose Clothing

This is still an issue for me and my 2+ year old! I feel your pain! 9 months might feel a little young, but perhaps try giving her an option of clothing and let her help in the 'adventure'. Present a couple of appropriate options for top and bottom and let her combine the outfit. Encourage her and praise the ensemble as you go and hope she's overcome with pride instead of the squirms. Good luck and remember it will get easier!!

Playing a Game Usually Works

Although it doesn't work every single time, I often find playing a game of peek-a-boo with the clothes and my little girl works well. When she gets close enough to pull the clothes away and "find" me, I grab her and throw something on her. While this takes a little longer, it avoids all the screaming.
