In a voluntary baby recall jointly issued on April 20, 2009, GAP and the CPSC have sighted a potential choking hazard when it comes to over 20,000 toggle coats sold exclusively at GAP stores.

Approximately 19,200 coats were sold in the United States, while almost 4,000 were sold across Canada.

Three different styles are included in this baby recall:

  • Rose Toggle Hoodie - Style 600298
  • Pink Duffle Coat - Style 600344
  • Blue Plaid & Mojave Toggle Coat - Style 600942

Composed of cotton, polyester, or a polyester/acrylic blend, these toggle coats were sold in sizes infant through 24 months and have tan plastic toggles that measure approximately 1 3/4" wide. They were sold at the following stores between October 2008 and April 2009 for between $20 and $50:

  • babyGap
  • GapKids
  • Gap Stores
  • Gap.com

If you own one of these toggle coats, you should immediately remove it from your baby's wardrobe and return it to any Gap store for a full refund. Consumers who return the coats before August 31, 2009 will also receive a coupon good for 20% off any regular priced item. If your coat was purchased online, please contact Gap at 888-747-3704 to return by mail.
