Definition:

A onesie is the trademarked one-piece undershirt available only through Gerber.

Also known as a baby bodysuit, it is a common piece of baby clothing that usually snaps both at the shoulder and between the legs. You'll also see it referred to as a "baby snapsuit."

Designed to accommodate easy diaper changes, these t-shirts are usually sold in packs of three, and are available in both long and short-sleeve varieties.

Although many parents believe that bodysuits are the best option for babies when they are first home from the hospital, that is not exactly true. Due to the sensitivity of the healing umbilical cord, often times a kimono-styled shirt is a better option; a bodysuit is best saved for after the first few weeks at home.

As more and more baby clothes designers pop up, it is easy to find a vast array of bodysuits that can do double duty as both an under-shirt and a prominent part of a baby outfit.
