It seems that invite-only shopping sites are all the rage right now. And why wouldn't they be? For every man, woman or child that loves to be decked out in designer clothes, but can't afford the price tag, these invite-only sites are like a little slice of heaven on the Internet.

But it seems that one unique group of people has been missing out on these exclusive sales - babies. While there are some sites that have occasional sales on baby or kids clothing, a new site has just arrived - Totsy.com. Catering to the 0-7 age group and their seriously fashionable moms, this is one invite-only site you want to hook up with, stat.

And they don't just cover your baby's bottom - they also have sales on prenatal care products, baby gear, travel accessories, bedding and bath, toys, DVDs and educational materials. Plus, for every purchase you make, they'll plant a tree in the name of your child and show a little bit of love to Momma Earth.

Still not convinced to join? Here's a taste of what you're missing. Right now you can grab cashmere cotton receiving blankets from Dwell Studio for $35 (50% off the regular price) or gear from Mommy Couture starting at just $28! Oh, did I mention it's free to join? Really, it's a no lose situation here.

Lucky for us, the gals over at Totsy love About.com Baby Clothes so much they've offered up a special invitation code for all of you. Just head to TOTSY.com and click "I Have an Invitation Code." Then, use AboutBaby and you'll get access to all their great sales. Coming up in the next few days? Tori Spelling's line, Little Maven.

Don't wait - head over now and join up. Not only is it perfect timing for the holiday shopping season, the window shopping alone is worth the 30 seconds it takes to sign up.

Thrifty Thursday: Hosting a Baby Clothes Swap Party

Thursday November 12, 2009

In the last year, I've had no fewer than 15 friends give birth - really. In the beginning of 2010, not only will I be welcoming my own bundle of joy, so will an additional 7 co-workers and/or friends - all within a few weeks of each other! We didn't plan it that way, really!

As I approach the big day, I'm thinking not only of all the baby clothes I've collected, but also of all the baby clothes that were given to me but will go unused (wrong season/size, boy instead of girl, etc.) So how do I plan on ridding myself of these clothes, while getting new clothes for my daughter without spending a dime?

I'm hosting a baby clothes swap party. A concept so easy, I feel like everyone should be doing it!

Share a Pair of Baby Shoes at See Kai Run

Monday November 9, 2009

Share a Pair

November is a great time to shop at See Kai Run. Actually, any time is a great time to shop their baby shoes, but in November, for every pair you purchase, a second pair will be donated to Soles4Souls and the World Association for Children and Parents.

Although the partnership with Soles4Souls began in 2004, See Kai Run opened it up to their customers for the first time in 2008 and ended up donating 18,000 pairs of shoes in the process. Quite a testament to their loyal fan base and the commitment they share to ensuring that every child has a pair of shoes.

So don't wait. Many of you are beginning your holiday shopping early this year and a pair of baby shoes from See Kai Run is a perfect gift.

Compare prices on See Kai Run styles, shop directly at their website or find a retailer near you.

Thrifty Thursday: Nordstrom's Half-Yearly Sale is On!

Thursday November 5, 2009

Holiday Wings Tee and Matching Pants

As November begins and the days get shorter (and colder!) I can't help think about the fact that soon I'll be doing my holiday shopping when sales and coupon codes are going to mean more than ever. Retailers have prepped themselves for a slower holiday season and as a result, they've reportedly ordered less stock than in previous years meaning that, when it's gone, it's gone.

So don't delay your holiday shopping. Thrifty Thursday posts will continue to offer discounts on baby clothes (which make great gifts!) to get you through your holiday shopping. Speaking of which, what will your approach to holiday shopping be this year? I have a tradition that involves a pot of tea, my laptop and a roaring fire at 6am on November 26th. Share your strategy in the comments below!

Sckoon Organics: 20% off organic holiday items + free shipping to the US and Canada with any purchase over $50; ending Sunday the 8th. I happen to adore Sckoon and have mentioned them many times, including in my inexpensive organic baby clothes gift guide - prices are reasonable, shipping is speedy and quality is terrific! Right now I'm loving this organic cotton tee with wings and matching red-striped monkey pants. How cute would your little one be crawling around with these little wings on their back?

Robee: free shipping on 2 or more pairs of Robeez Footwear which is great if you're starting your holiday shopping early. Personally, I would invest in the Soft Puppy Booties and the Thermal Booties (Buy Direct) in pastel pink plaid (you know, because I'm having a girl and all) and since it's really time to start thinking about winter boots for your baby.

Payless: the BOGO 1/2 off sale is on for fall. Payless has a wonderful selection of baby shoes for those that are walking and ready for a sturdier sole. Affordable in price and offering flat rate ground shipping of $5.95, it's hard to beat.

Nordstrom: the big winner this week with their Half-Yearly Clearance Sale. Last year I came across some incredible discounts and this year I'll hopefully be doing the same. The sale started yesterday and runs through November 15th (next Sunday). Designer brands such as Juicy Couture, Burberry, Kissy Kissy, Small Paul, and Ralph Lauren are now marked down by more than 30%.

Emma and Avery: new markdowns on sale items meaning you'll save up to 50% on these classically designed baby clothes.

Stella McCartney Collection Now at Baby Gap!

Tuesday November 3, 2009

Stella McCartney for Baby Gap

I'm a sucker for cashmere. Even though I don't recommend buying it for babies because it's so high-maintenance, I love it anyway. It's one of the reasons I love colder weather - I can pull out my cashmere socks.

So you can imagine my sheer delight when I looked at the Baby GAP website this morning and discovered that the new Stella McCartney line has been unveiled. Rich in cashmere, organic cotton and the softest color palette I've seen, it looks soft and broken in even though it's all brand new.

I was discussing it with a friend who is due to have her baby just a few weeks after I welcome baby Ella. It was decided that this line was our new lust-after baby clothes line. One in which we will both have to exercise careful restraint.

What are we crushing on? Let me share:

Monday November 2, 2009

I hope you all enjoyed your trick-or-treating and I'm anxious to see pictures of your little ones. In fact, what I'd love is to add them to the Baby Costume Gallery I currently have started.

Thrifty Thursday: Save Money on Baby Clothes

Thursday October 29, 2009

Baby clothes can get expensive, there's no doubt. So if you can buy used at a baby consignment store, you're in luck. Clothes are already washed and dried repeatedly, so there's no question how they'll hold up to wear and tear, and as a bonus, they're pre-shrunk!

Whether you're shopping for a new baby or an existing child, you really can't beat the savings and half the time you'll find clothes with tags still attached. In fact, I was just in my local baby consignment store the other day, trying to find some clothes for our soon-to-arrive baby girl, and I found loads of stuff from Baby GAP with tags still on it. Regular retail on the clothes would have been well over $150 and I spent less than $45; not too shabby.
